I love that Tet brought Shiro and Sora to this world so that they can challenge him again in a game of chess. He gives them a goal to work towards which is beating him again in a game of chess. But before they can challenge him, they need to get their chess pieces.

If he brought them to this world for a stupid reason like saving Imanity, they'd be lost on what to do since saving Imanity can really mean anything and there's not a clear goal for them to accomplish.

But since their goal is to beat Tet, they can not only save Imanity, but gather the rest of the races together to make their chess board complete.
